Geocache Description:

 Outlander

The year is 1946 and Britain is recovering from a devastating war. Claire and Frank Randall have been separated by this war for a very long time. They travel to Inverness, Scotland for a holiday in the hope of rekindling the love they had for each other.

They learn of a mysterious stone circle perched on a fairy hill called "Craigh na Dun". Some say the hill is enchanted while others say it is cursed. Both are right!!

In the early hours before sunrise, Claire and Frank make their way to Craigh na Dun and secretly witness half naked local Druid women chanting and dancing around the standing stones to welcome "Samhain", a Gaelic festival marking the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter.

Later, while Frank researches his ancestry back in town, Claire revisits Craigh na Dun to observe an unusual blue flower that she finds intriguing. She is studying botany and the healing properties of plants. Claire is strangely drawn ever closer to the large central stone of the circle.

She touches it and is mysteriously swept back in time to 1743 where she is immediately thrown into an unknown world. Unfortunately, she keeps running into and being threatened by "Black Jack" Randall, a captain in the British Army who happens to be Frank's ancestor.

To save her from the clutches of Black Jack, Claire is forced to marry Jamie Fraser, a chivalrous and romantic young Scottish warrior. Soon, a passionate and intense love is ignited that tears Claire's heart between two vastly different men in two irreconcilable worlds.

And so the story continues......

To Find This Cache

The published coordinates will take you to Sydney's version of Craigh na Dun. Not quite like the one in Outlander but with a bit (ok, a lot 😀😀😀 ) of imagination......

Unfortunately though, you won't see Druid women dancing around these stones in the pre-dawn light. Take some time to explore the area and particularly the stones shown below. Be careful, there may be more than one that looks similar! These three stones will reveal the location of a secret treasure.

(Cue hint #2!)

This artwork is called "Memory is Creation Without End". To find out more information about this piece, visit the following website:

If you are interested to know where the filming location of the ficticious "Craigh na Dun Standing Stones" is in Scotland, click on the link below to be taken to the listing for the cache that's been placed nearby. The published coordinates give you the location of the fairy hill.

A mix of several genres, the Outlander series has elements of historical fiction, romance, adventure and science fiction/fantasy. The books were made into a drama television series.
