Geocache Description:

Welcome to the Manumuskin River Nature Preserve Devil Geo-Art. To complete this art you will need to hike approximately 15 miles locating 67 unique soda bottle preform containers that are placed strategically through one of New Jersey's finest hidden paradises.

You will also need to be on the lookout for 8 clues hidden among the 67 caches along the way to locate the bonus 68th mystery cache, an ammo can. None of the caches are at the posted coordinates but all the information you'll need can be found on the cache page.N 39° 20.870' W 74° 59.827'

Bring water, snacks, and a camera for some outstanding views. Best accomplished with your caching friends or group for a fun day on the trail. Bring a flashlight, it may be needed just in case as the trails twist and turn and you will be far from any road at some points in this adventure. Be aware, the lure and legends of the NJ Pine Barrens may get the best of you during this quest. You never know what may be lurking behind that next tree!

Fact, Fiction, or Folklore, I guess that depends on who you ask or what you know about these woods and it's history. If you happen to have extra time explore a little deeper in the preserve for some other caches and enjoy the crystal blue quarries that can be seen via satellite imagery. Your mission is to have fun and enjoy this spectacular area.

A newspaper from 1887 describes sightings of a winged creature, referred to as "the Devil of Leeds", allegedly spotted near the Pine Barrens and well known among the local populace of Burlington County, New Jersey.

Although we have permission for the geocaches in this area, do not park or even walk on Schooner Landing Road. You will risk a ticket for sure or a longer walk to find where your vehicle is impounded. The preserve is closed from entry on that side!! Cars have been damaged by locals.

New “Area Closed” signs will be going up in April 2019, and will be enforced by the State Police. Trespassing beyond the signs is a Criminal Offense and the fines are substantial. New signs will also be placed around the lake, DO NOT go beyond any of these signs. Please respect the areas Land Management instructions. Thank you.
