Built in the beginning of the century. During the reign of Philip II, during the reign of Philip II, it was partially destroyed by the earthquake of 1755, after which it was recovered. After the extinction of the religious orders (1834), the Commendatories remained in place until the Implantation of Republic (1910), date on which the 2nd floor was occupied by the Higher Primary School of D. António da Costa, and later occupied by the Sidónio Pais Institute.It currently belongs to the Recolhimentos. The cloister, one of the largest in the Iberian Peninsula, has a square plan and is developed in arcades of perfect arches, housing the Chapels of Mr. dos Passos and the Incarnation, The church, with a single nave, with 5 side chapels, includes gilded carving, polychrome marbles and panels of tiles, highlighting those that lining the walls and tell the steps of the life of the Holy Martyrs. its classification as Property of Public Interest covers the church, the cloister and other dependencies, as well as the exterior garden areas, forming the whole of the convent fence.



Construído no início do séc. XVII,durante o reinado de Filipe II,para as Comendadeiras da Ordem de Santiago,foi parcialmente destruído pelo terramoto de 1755,sendo depois recuperado.Após a extinção das ordens religiosas (1834),as Comendadeiras mantiveram-se no local até à Implantação da República (1910),data em que o 2º piso foi ocupado pela Escola Primária Superior de D. António da Costa,sendo posteriormente ocupada pelo Instituto Sidónio Pais.Actualmente pertence aos Recolhimentos.Trata-se de um edifício de grande imponência,que não chegou a ser concluído.O claustro,um dos maiores da Península Ibérica,de planta quadrada,desenvolve-se em galerias de arcos de volta perfeita,albergando as Capelas do Sr. dos Passos e da Encarnação,revestidas a talha,estatuária e azulejaria.A Igreja,de nave única,com 5 capelas laterais,integra talha dourada,mármores polícromos e painéis de azulejos,destacando-se os que revestem as paredes e narram os passos da vida dos Santos Mártires.A sua classificação como Imóvel de Interesse Público abrange a igreja,o claustro e demais dependências,assim como as zonas exteriores ajardinadas,formando o conjunto da cerca conventual.
