This cache is placed to commemorate Sturmer station which was opened on 9 August 1865 by the Great Eastern Railway. The early map and more recent overhead view show the station buildings (those marked on the map in yellow are station buildings, the cross is the cache position in relation to them). It closed on the 6 March 1967:
This old photo shows Sturmer Station about 1965 while it was still open. Note the station building with its canopy. The station building is now a private house and can be seen in the December 2018 photo below it, complete with remains of the platform and track bed:
