Geocache Description:

The cache is located at N38 43.455 / W77 21.687 and is located near the remnants of what appears to be an old stone house or small stone building. Only the foundation/cellar remain. The cache is slightly off the beaten path, but not too remote.

This cache is located within the boundary of Fountainhead regional park and Bull Run, but is not accessible from the main park entrance. To get to the trail head and find this cache you park your vehicle here N38 43.681 / W77 21.520 which is at the very end of Wolf Run Shoals Rd. Although the trail leads into park property, this is not a typical public access point (i.e. no parking lot or facilities). Parking is allowed along the shoulder where the road dead ends. There is a county park sign noting that no motorized vehicles or mt bikes are allowed on the trail.

To get there, park at the above location and follow the trail down until you arrive at the Second fork and go RIGHT (look for 2 blue trail markings on the tree). Continue across a creek bed and up a ridge. At the top of the ridge the trail goes left, straight, or right. Go LEFT. Soon you will come to another fork. Bear LEFT/STRAIGHT. Now you’re off the beaten path, but near the cache site. Hunt around, it’s near a ravine.

I stumbled upon this site years ago while fishing off the point near where the cache is located. I have no idea what it was, but it looks like maybe there was also a yard or clearing here a very looooong time ago (beautiful flowers pop up in the springtime from under the leaves). Also looks like there was a well here too (look around a bit). Any ideas what this place was ???

UPDATE: Thanks to those who have helped maintain this cache. I have not been out to the cache in a while, but I am still researching the area. I am not 100% sure this photo is of the cache site, but it very well could be....scroll down to page 29 of the document below. (visit link)

04-30-2006 Donbert adopted this cache with permission from Geocaching.com volunteers. I hope the owner will allow me to continue to provide TLC to this cache, as it is my very first find! It is the catalyst that turned me from "muggle" to "geocacher", and it was not for six months later that I received my GPSr as a gift from my wife. The rest is history, as is this house. I will provide more detailed information and links in the near future.

Also, the owner should add this cache to their watchlist for future reference. Thank You - Donbert
