Geocache Description:

The date is confirmed, February 16th. Please post your intentions to attend. I like to know who to contact if the event is a no-go. .

This is an annual trip! For the last ten years we've enjoyed a weekend camp out at the same site. Feel free to come for a meal, a day, one night, or even two!  We will be arriving at the cabin Friday around supper time and leaving some time on Sunday. Others arrive even earlier than we do!  Official event time is 8:00am on Saturday to 8:00pm

There is a ski lodge where there are 6 bunks (no mattresses), a wood stove, tables, and lots of room to sleep on the floor. Outside there is a vault toilet, a fire pit, a fireplace, and room for tenting.

From the main campground on US Route 1, the cabin is about 2 miles along a snowmobile trail. There is plenty of parking. After parking your car, hike/snowshoe/snowmobile straight through the camping area until you see a snowmobile trail on the left. The trail will immediately fork, the left fork goes up to Mt. Megunticook, stay to the right to getto the cabin. The trail will climb sharply the first 3/4 mile and pass a water tank and then is somewhat flat. It's very "doable" even if you are pulling a sled full of supplies and friends will help.

For the more adventurous, It's a 2.8 mile snowshoe in from the road at Steven's Corner. . There is a large parking lot there. It's mostly uphill, but gradual, with some ups and downs.

Snowmobiles are allowed and the trail right to the cabin is a snowmobile trail. So, for those of you that don't want to snowshoe or ski in, you might be able to hitch a ride with someone. Snowmobiles may start at either end.

We've got the cabin reserved for Friday and Saturday night. There are caches in the area,  and some great hiking or snowshoeing. Bring some board games, (Who will win the annual "Spoons" game?), reading materials and cards. Relaxing is allowed!

Terrain is rated 4, based on winter conditions. It's a gradual climb and snowshoes are a big help. If you have any questions about the difficulty, what to bring or how to prepare, let me know.

Cell phone reception is weak, but we are able to climb up a hill a bit and get some bars. It's a good idea to give me an approximate time that you will be arriving. Each year a bunch of us love to ski, hike or snowshoe out on Saturday morning to help pull gear to the cabin. We've been known to meet someone at midnight, on Friday,  and will have to do it again this year.
