Geocache Description:

Take a hike to a unique, backcountry cabin.

For the cache to be fulfilled, you need to go to the listed coordinates where you will find a backcountry cabin. On the front set of windows is a painted scene. Email me the phrase that is painted on the window or the name of the artist (please do not post the answer in your log).

This area is a very beautiful, rugged slice of western Montana. There are several ways to get to the location. The quickest involves about a 2.5 mile, uphill hike. I recommend you strap a pack on your back and spend a night or two in the area. There are many things to do in the area:

- There are 3 lakes within spitting distance of the cabin and the flyfishing is great. There are several other lakes in the vicinity.

- There are several mountains (easy climbs) nearby that offer fantastic views into Canada and nearby Glacier.

- The cabin is a popular destination for snowmobilers. I haven’t tried this so can’t give any advice here.

If you decide to spend the night, the cabin is open on a first come, first serve basis (no fee). The cabin was built in the 30’s as a layover point for the customs/border patrols. The cabin has several log books dating back to 1980 which have the stories and signatures of those who have used the cabin (many hours of funny reading). Also, be warned that this is prime bear country and you should have a good knowledge of safe hiking/backpacking practices.
