"QI (Quite Interesting) is a British comedy panel game television quiz show created and co-produced by John Lloyd, and features permanent panellist Alan Davies. Stephen Fry was host of the show from its initial pilot, before departing after the final episode of the M series in 2016,[2] with frequent QI panellist Sandi Toksvig replacing him prior to the beginning of the N series in 2016.[3] The format of the show focuses on Davies and three other guest panellists answering questions that are extremely obscure, making it unlikely that the correct answer will be given. To compensate, the panellists are awarded points not only for the right answer, but also for interesting ones, regardless of whether they are right or even relate to the original question, while points are deducted for "answers which are not only wrong, but pathetically obvious"[4] – typically answers that are generally believed to be true but in fact are misconceptions. These answers, referred to as "forfeits", are usually indicated by a loud klaxon and alarm bell, flashing lights, and the incorrect answer being flashed on the video screens behind the panellists. Bonus points are sometimes awarded or deducted for challenges or incorrect references, varying from show to show. QI has a philosophy that "everything is interesting if looked at in the right way";[5] many factual errors in the show have been corrected in later episodes or on the show's blog."
Basically it is a game show where they make trick questions, or questions where you think you know the right answer, but don't. The producers then guess which wrong answers people might come up with, and if you hit one of them, a loud horn will sound, and the wrong answer flashes on 2 big screens.
The scoring on the show is a bit of a mystery, because while giving a wrong answer generally is penalized with -10 points, you can earn and loose random values of points by giving interesting facts, so no-one knows the score throughout the show, and the score is handled backstage. The show ends with everyone getting their scores, and usually they are all negative, or barely positive.
Some contestants are quick to figure out that to win this quiz, you must survive the klaxon (the loud horn) while others are not so adept at that. :)
Since the show is notorious for being unfair, the mystery has to be the same. ;)
