What is it?

A Mega is a geocaching event attended by more than 500 people. Since 2008, the UK Mega has been an annual roving event to showcase different areas of the UK. It is regularly attended by nearly 2000 people and has become a fixture in the calendar of many geocachers, both from the UK and abroad. In 2020 it will come to South East England for the first time.

Where is it?

South of England Showground
Selsfield Road
Ardingly
Haywards Heath
West Sussex
RH17 6TH

The South of England Showground is a 150 acre estate offering a host of event spaces. Set in the beautiful Sussex countryside, and located just 36 miles from London and 20 miles from Brighton, it is perfectly situated in the centre of the South East region. There is ample space for parking at the venue. If you’re travelling by rail or air, it is easily accessible from mainline rail stations and just 11 miles from London Gatwick Airport.

Directions
By Car
The Showground is situated on the B2028 just outside the village of Ardingly and next to Wakehurst Place. It is within easy reach from the M23, A23, A22 and the A272. Approach from any direction is possible with all vehicles, so just plug the postcode into your satnav.

By Rail
Our nearest mainline rail station is located at Balcombe (2.5 miles) but Haywards Heath (3.5 miles) is much better served by both trains and onward transport. The 272 bus stops right outside the Showground and runs between Brighton and Crawley, stopping by Haywards Heath rail station. For more detailed information, please click here

Camping

Why not enjoy the full UK Mega experience this year and camp on site at the Showground, right on the doorstep of the Mega itself? It's the best way to ensure you don't miss a thing including all our on-site events in the week leading up to the main event on Saturday the 8th August.

Camping is available at the venue with both electric and non-electric pitches. We will also have a limited number of smaller backpacker pitches available for those with tiny 1-man tents. There are already permanent facilities on site, although more showers and toilets will be added for your convenience and the best news is these will all be connected to mains water and sewage. Electric hook-up is also a mains connection, so no noisy generators!

Although this is a large site, facilities and safety considerations means there is a limit to how many pitches will be available, so book early to avoid disappointment. This will also massively help our planning, so thank you in advance. Prices start from £16 per night for a non-electric backpacker pitch and cost up to £28 per night with electric. Why not spend a whole 7 days exploring our region and make sure you are close to all the action.

Even if you are not camping, everyone will be welcome to attend the evening events each night for socialising, food, drink and entertainment.

Mega Day

At the main event, we are planning a range of themed stalls and activities to suit the occasion including some photo opportunities with Signal the frog, a varied selection of trade stands, outdoor entertainment and lots of things to keep the children happy.

There will be the usual opportunities to discover unique adventure labs that will only be available during the event.

We look forward to welcoming you to the 13th annual UK Mega event in Sussex.
