If you visit between April 1st and November
30th and you park at the canoe launch (N42 33.335 W071
20.368) then you need to obtain a parking permit. See the
"Parking permit notice" image below. Permits cost $2.00 and
can be purchased at the yellow permit machine at N42 33.409
W071 20.922.
An alternative is to park for free at the entrance to Thanksgiving
Forest (N42 33.997 W071 20.282) and hike over from there. It's
about 1.25 miles if you choose this option but there are several
other caches you can visit along the way!
Note: there is no need to trespass or bushwhack. Excellent area to

Craigs' original cache description follows. The only thing
different is the container, which is a camo ammo box:
I've created a new stash in northern Massachusetts. It's easily
reachable from the Lowell area. It is on public land.
The cache is a white watertight pail, about 1 to 2 Gallon. It
has the words "GPS Cache" on the top in black marker.
It contains a few small treasures, a logbook, pen, and the
document from the website explaining what it is. If you take
something, leave something! And please sign the logbook and replace
the contents in the supplied ziploc bag.
It's located on public land, easily hikable. I'd rate it a 2 on
acessibility, and a 1 on terrain ...bring the kids. ( I did) It was
a bit muddy when I planted it, so dress accordingly. Not real tough
though!!
There is a fair amount of tree cover which may affect the
accuracy of your unit. I lost my signal a few times walking in, but
it was OK when I set this waypoint. I have no pictures or anything
to post, so can't give you any visual clues yet.
A description of the general cache site:
There are a number of hiking trails in this area. As you
approach the spot there is an old stone wall, (lots of stonewalls
in the area) that forms a line between the woods and a large open
field. There is a large tree nearby with a blue dot painted on it
near the stash and visible from the trail. There are also some
trees in the vicinity marked with orange tape, used by surveyors to
mark property lines.
The stash is concealed to keep it from being visible from the
trail or the casual stroller. ( white bucket, you know!). A large,
flat, stone is set upright leaning against the bucket. However you
should find it if you look hard enough. Think.. "ground level".
Please be sure to conceal it at least as well as when you found
it.
