ST PETER, FARNDON
St Peter, Farndon is a Grade I listed building, achieving the status on 16 January 1967.
The majority of the building dates from the C12th, C13th and C14th with restorations taking place in 1598, C16th and late C19th.
The layout of St Peter is a tower, nave, aisles, north vestry, south porch, south chapel and chancel.
In the tower is a C17th staircase with fretted balusters. The octagonal font has an elaborate C19th canopy. The furniture is C19th. Monuments include in the north chancel to William Buck, dated 1795 and made by Wallis of Newark, a tablet surmounted by an urn. In the south chancel is a
decorative brass plaque to Dorothy Cook, 1741. In the south aisle, to Samuel Peake, 1729. This has single angels head flanking the decorative apron, single scrolls flank the inscription and the crown is decorated with a single urn. In the tower is a metal plaque to W. Rippon and I. Lamb, church wardens, 1792. The north aisle has the remains of C12th ashlar coffin.
