VAMOS A BANHOS?
PT:
As Poças de Vicente Dias, local mais conhecido por Portinho, é o nome dado a uma formação geológica costeira portuguesa. Localizam-se no lugar da Fajã Grande, a cerca de 2 quilómetros da Vila da Calheta, concelho da Calheta, costa sul da ilha de São Jorge, Açores.
Tem como fundo as ilhas do Pico e Faial no outro lado do canal da ilha de São Jorge. Trata-se de piscinas naturais que se caracterizam por serem uma zona balnear formada por escorrimentos lávicos antigos sobre os quais houve depósitos de outros materiais terraformantes também de origem vulcânica como piroclastos e cinzas.
Trata-se, portanto, de uma zona onde é possível ver e estudar as diferentes erupções vulcânicas dada a exposição das diferentes camadas geológicas.
Estes materiais, ao atingirem a orla marítima e pelo efeito da erosão das ondas, deram origem a variadas formações que consistem, sobretudo, em piscinas, de pedra basáltica de cor cinza com as restantes camadas de substratos, piroclastos, e cinzas com origem em antigas erupções ou aluviões, originados por chuvas intensas no cimo das montanhas sobreposto na rocha basáltica mais antiga.
Dada a fraca presença de areais, a água marinha que preenche estas piscinas apresenta-se extremamente límpida e cristalina. Toda a costa envolvente é frequentemente utilizada para a prática de mergulho com e sem escafandro.
Nas imediações destas piscinas naturais encontra-se o Parque de Campismo da Calheta situado a 30 metros do mar. Na época alta, o Parque de Campismo tem disponível um snack-bar com uma ótima esplanada. O caminho de acesso é bem asfaltado e tem boas condições para qualquer viatura.
Nas proximidades existe um templo cristão, a Ermida do Senhor Bom Jesus, cuja festa de honra se realiza no último domingo de setembro com missa cantada, procissão, arrematações e arraial.
No mês de junho realizam-se a Festa dos Tremoços, uma festa que remonta ao século XVIII, no entanto não se conhecem registos de quando e como principiou. Sabe-se que este festejo, embora não faça parte integrante das festas do Espírito Santo, funciona em conjunto e em perfeita harmonia e é sempre efetuada no sábado da Trindade. Para a festa, são colocados os tremoços no mar, depois de terem sido cozidos com água do mar.
A todos os presentes é oferecido um almoço com típico atum frito com molho frio e com os acompanhamentos tradicionais, massa sovada ou bolo de milho, doces, e tudo regado (como não podia deixar de ser) com o nosso bom vinho da Fajã (atenção, também é oferecido água e sumo).
Ao final da tarde, segue-se em cortejo animado até à casa do Espírito Santo com o carro de bois enfeitado a preceito, onde levam os tremoços e de vinho de cheiro para irem “molhando a guelra”, como era hábito dizer. Atrás dos carros típicos de bois, segue animação feita pelos tocadores e cantadores tradicionais, onde se dança os bailes regionais e as chamarritas, com grande alegria e boa disposição. Distribuiu-se tremoços e algum copito a quem aparecer, até entregarem o restante tremoço na casa do Espírito Santo, sendo esse distribuído no arraial do domingo da festa da Trindade.

Poças de Vicente Dias, better known as Portinho, is the name given to a Portuguese coastal geological formation. They are in the place of Fajã Grande, about 2 kilometers from the village of Calheta, Calheta county, south coast of the island of São Jorge, Azores.
In the background are the Pico and Faial islands, on the other side of the channel of the island of São Jorge. These are natural pools that are characterized by being a bathing area formed by ancient lava flows on which there were deposits of other terraforming materials also of volcanic origin as pyroclasts and ashes.
It is, therefore, an area where it is possible to see and study the different volcanic eruptions given the exposure of different geological layers.
These materials, when reaching the sea shore and the effect of the erosion of the waves, gave rise to various formations consisting mainly of pools of gray basaltic stone with the remaining layers of substrates, pyroclasts, and ashes originating in ancient eruptions or alluviums, caused by intense rains on the top of the mountains superimposed on the oldest basaltic rock.
Given the poor presence of sand, the marine water that fills these pools is extremely clear and crystalline. All the surrounding coast is often used for diving with and without diving.
In the surroundings of these natural pools is the Campsite of Calheta, located 30 meters from the sea. In the high season, the Campsite has a snack bar with a great terrace. The access road is well paved and has good conditions for any car.
Nearby there is a Christian temple, the Hermitage of Senhor Bom Jesus, whose feast of honour takes place on the last Sunday of September with a sung mass, procession, gatherings and camp.
In the month of June the Festa dos Tremoços (Festival of the Lupines) is celebrated, a party that goes back to the XVIII century, however no records are known of when and how it began. It is known that this feast, although not an integral part of the feasts of the Holy Spirit, works together and in perfect harmony and is always carried out on the Sabbath of the Trinity. For the feast, the lupines are placed in the sea, after they have been cooked with sea water.
Everyone is offered a lunch with typical fried tuna with cold sauce and with the traditional accompaniments, soaked pasta or corn cake, sweets, and all watered (as it could not be) with our good Fajã wine (attention, water and juice are also offered).
At the end of the afternoon, it follows in an animated procession to the house of the Holy Spirit with the oxen cart adorned with precept, where they take the lupines and wine of smell to go "watering the gill", as was customary to say. Behind the typical oxen carts, there is an animation performed by the traditional players and singers, where they dance the regional dances and the “chamarritas”, with great joy and good disposition. Lupins and some wine is distributed who to appear, until they delivered the remaining lupine in the house of the Holy Spirit, which was distributed in the Sunday camp of the feast of the Trinity.
