The first of a set of child-friendly caches to celebrate being 6 and a half!
Nork Park is a fantastic park with woodland, hedgerows, a small arborateum, an exercise trail, great open spaces for playing and leafy lined walkways perfect for exercising four legged friends and children alike. By the Nork Community Centre car park is a childrens playground where we often finish out walks and another situated near the other carpark off of The Drive, Banstead.
The park contains the previous site of the (sadly now demolished) grand mansion known as 'Nork House'. Built and landscaped in 1740 by Christopher Buckle and later owned by mustard overlords, The Colman family, during the 19th century. The mansion was demolished in 1937. During WW2 the Council requisitioned the park for the building of Nissan Huts which housed Canadian and British units. These were demolished in 1946 and in the following year, Nork Park was purchased by the Banstead District Council for use as a public open space.
The cache itself is a small khaki coloured plastic box, approx 7x5". It contains small child-friendly swaps, a travel bug and a special prize for the First To Find! It is placed just off of a well trodden path, along a smaller track at ground level.
