Geocache Description:

The Parkville Friday Night Bowls

Welcome to the Friday night bowls in the city. The Parkville Event, 2018 will be the fourth MEGA event in as many years in the state Victoria and that makes it the longest running annual MEGA event in the southern hemisphere!

What better way to relax on the night before the big event than at a bowls club with your geocaching buddies. We have several rinks booked at the Flemington and Kensington Bowls Club for some barefoot bowls. And of course, the bar will be open for you to indulge in some drinks if you wish and the kitchen will be open if you want to get a meal. Don’t worry if you’re no good at bowls, or even if you’ve never done it before. This event is all about relaxing with some like minded people the night before the big weekend, so you don’t even need to set foot on the lawn, you can remain at your table, or at the bar for the whole night if you like.

If you are new to geocaching, don’t be scared. This is a perfect opportunity to come and meet geocachers from far and wide, get some tips and tricks and make life long friends.

  • The event will run from 6 to 8pm on Friday the 16th of November 2018 but if you wish to stay on after the 8pm finish you are more than welcome to.
  • Unfortunately, Geocaching Victoria’s budget doesn’t stretch to shouting everyone food and drinks at this establishment, so you will need to pay for your meals and beverages.

Make sure you log your Will Attend on this event if you intend on coming and the number of people you expect to be bringing along so that we can cater adequately. Further details regarding this event will be posted as announcements in due course.

There is limited parking along Racecourse road for this event. As with all the activities for this weekend we would encourage you to make use of public transport or bicycle if possible. The 57 tram runs out of the city along Elizabeth Street, through North Melbourne and then along Racecourse Road; the Smithfield road stop is about 100 meters from the Bowls Club. For those who have booked accommodation with us at the MEGA site, this location is a very short 2 kilometre walk, or tram ride.
