Geocache Description:

Time: 9:00 - 10:00
Place: Elliot Center, Willam Moffat

We were out shopping for some pairs of socks and were amazed to see that one brand was made almost entirely out of recycled cool drink bottles. It suddenly made it real. Those bottles we save and send to be recycled could be in our socks.

Recycling is good for the environment as it:

  • Reduces the amount of waste sent to landfills and incinerators
  • Conserves natural resources such as timber, water and minerals
  • Increases economic security by tapping a domestic source of materials
  • Prevents pollution by reducing the need to collect new raw materials
  • Saves energy
  • Reduces harmful toxins that are released into the air.

We will swap your bag of recyclables for a cup of coffee. HQ will also throw in a souvenir for free.

On Saturday, 15 September you can bring:

Glass

Collect any glass bottles and come and get rid of your frustrations by smashing them into the hopper. Please no ceramics, windows, mirrors, windscreens, etc Click Here to see what can and can't be recycled.

Domestic Batteries

Torch Batteries, etc. Not your old car battery.

Plastic

No polystyrene or PET trays (those punnet containers fruit comes in). Plastic containers such as cool drink and water bottles, cleaning product bottles, milk bottles, yogurt pots, margarine and ice cream tubs are recyclable. Please make sure they are clean and in a black bag for easy transport.

Paper and Cardboard

Please bring in stacks of board or paper for easy transport.

Just bringing items you would normally throw in your bin will make a difference to the environment but it would be far better if some of the items are picked up in a park, beach or area near you.
