Number 1157 in a series of caches where a red telephone box is in close proximity to a post box.
The only rules are that they have to be able to be photographed together, be not more than 100’ apart and the phone boxes have to be red.
I drive past here on the way to and from Abergavenny and it has always struck me how well-kept this pairing is so I thought it was about time I added them to the series. A quick and easy multi, it shouldn't take too long to complete but there is a stile to negotiate to get to the cache (waymarked).
There is space to park just a few metres past the postbox and you will need to collect a couple of clues and then put them in the formula below as normal to find the whereabouts of the cache.
So, ignoring the (01873) part, the second digit for the telephone box phone number is A, the last is B and the 5th is C.
Now look at the info on the front of the post box. In the bottom left you will see the letters 'CP' followed by a number - this number is D.
Just along from that is a date - what is the numerical value of the month? This is E.
Lastly, just above that there are the letters 'NP' followed by a number. This number is F.
Put the answers in the co-ordinate N51 50.ABC W002 57.DEF to give you the whereabouts of the micro-sized cache, which you will need to walk to (waypoint added to show you where to begin).
The Fine Pair series was originally started by wizardsmum but is now managed by mattd2k
If anybody would like to place 'A Fine Pair' of their own please do. I would just ask that you first visit www.afinepair.co.uk to request a number to avoid any duplication
mattd2k also keeps a public Bookmark List of this series. Once your cache is published please contact him via geocachingafinepair@gmail.com to have yours added
