18 years ago, on the 6th of October 2000, a geocacher named George hid a geocache near here at Murchison’s Gap. Initially the geocache was a bucket in the ground, this was replaced by Muzza in 2003 with a Sistema container, but that was upgraded on it’s 10th anniversary to an ammo can. 18 years later and Geocaching Victoria, with permission from George of course, have decided to hold an event to celebrate this geocache’s 18th birthday.
Of course, the location of this event isn’t exactly where the geocache is. This location, a few hundred meters down the road, was chosen as there is much more adequate parking and for those who haven’t found it, or those who want to revisit it, they can head off and explore the final location while the rest of us celebrate this wonderful milestone.
The event will run from midday to 2pm, bring along a picnic lunch if you want, we look forward to seeing you all there…
