The Who, What, Where, When & Why:
You! Bring your family & friends! A night time paddle around the lake. Located on Pawtuckaway Lake in Nottingham NH at the posted coords above. Saturday August 25th from 7:30 PM to 8 PM and why not?!?! I wanted to do a fun geocaching event that not everyone (or anyone) has attended before.
Meet at 7:30 PM. Group Photo & Raffle 8 PM. At 8:05 PM we will start paddling around the lake. You may leave immediately following the group photo/raffle or you may join in on a night time paddle which extends to 9 PM.
“Supply List” You will need a boat & life jacket. It is optional to decorate your boat with lights other than the ones required by law for night time use. Bugspray, flash/head light. May want to wear a swimsuit or bring a towel. And of course your GPS should tag along.
I attempted to host a similar event on July 27th however a pretty spectacular thunderstorm decided to crash my party. My family went out in spite of that storm & had a wonderful time watching the spider vein lightening stretch across the night sky over the lake.
I suggest using a flat bottom boat and I suggest you paddle instead of using a motor. The lake is very shallow in some sections, esp the sandbar & the shoreline. Not to mention the numerous rocks hiding under the surface.
Decorating your boat is an added bonus feature to make this event even more fun! I am using battery operated “Christmas” lights & helium filled Glow Balloons. Get as creative as you wish. Each attendee who decorates their vessel will get a raffle ticket. I will pull 1 ticket out of a container at 8 PM and award the winner with a prize.
