We are very proud to be the owners of Zimbabwe’s first ever Wherigo cache! However, this would not have been possible had it not been for the very kind help and assistance of fellow cacher SkiCycle who came up with the idea of this Safari Snap, and who then volunteered to create the cartridge for us using our safari photos. For any cacher undertaking this Wherigo who finds themselves in the Kent area of England we highly recommend that you check out SkiCycle’s Wherigo caches - they are all well worth undertaking and are great fun to do. NB - this is a Play Anywhere Wherigo, and so please do not go to the given co-ordinates as these will take you to the railroad crossing behind the curio market outside of the Victoria Falls Rainforest National Park. All you need is an open space with about 30 meters in all directions around the point where you start the cartridge, which must be played on a smartphone (it will not work on a Garmin). It should take no more than 20 minutes to play the cartridge.
The aim of this Wherigo is to match two cards of the same animal. When you start the cartridge you will find yourself at the centre of a series of zones representing two of each of 13 animal cards. At first only the nearby animal cards will be visible - select one by walking into the zone - to see more just walk around. You will then have to find the matching animal card and enter that zone. There is one little problem, which is that there is a time limit to find the matching card - if you don’t find the card in time you will lose the previous matched cards, but you will then get a little longer to find the next match. Once you have matched all 13 animals the cache location will be revealed along with the clue. Please feel free to post a Write Note after you have played the cartridge, but only log a Found it after you have reached the final location and signed the log book. NB - we check all our caches on a regular basis and delete all "armchair” logs!
Having played the game you can either note the co-ordinates and hint and then search for the cache using your normal caching software, or you can save the cartridge until you are in the Ground Zero area and then find the cache using Wherigo. If you would like to log the cache on the Wherigo site you will need to use the second option - i.e. being a Play Anywhere Wherigo you will probably be some distance from the final location when you play the cartridge, and so save the game and restart it when you are close to the final co-ordinates. Once in the final zone a completion code will be placed in your inventory. Enjoy!
