Geocache Description:

About SideTracked Caches This cache belongs to the SideTracked series. It is not designed to take you to a magical place with a breath taking view. Its a distraction for the weary traveller, but anyone else can go and find it too. More Information can be found at the SideTracked Website. Newtown station - or Y Drenewydd in Welsh - in Powys, Wales, sits on the Cambrian line from Shrewsbury to Aberystwyth and mostly serves Birmingham International. Opened in 1861, the two-platform station was one of the last major Cambrian stations to be erected. A power house in the more modern chapters of Welsh history, Newtown prospered in the 18th and 19th centuries through the textile and flannel industry, aided first by the construction of the Montgomeryshire Canal and, later, the railway. Pulling over for a quick cache and dash should be OK if you rush. There is adjacent parking but there is a small charge for this. There is a little on road parking in Old Kerry Road.
