Leyland Railway Station
I decided it was time we had a Side Tracked in Leyland again. I remember we had a Side Tracked here previously and so thought it time we got one back on the map 
The Station
Leyland Railway Station has 4 platforms and is run by Northern.
Extensive work has been carried out on the station. In 2011 new digital display screens were installed as well as an automated ticket machine and a new ticket office was built in 2014. A new bridge was built 2016 for passengers to cross the lines. It has lifts for those who cannot manage the steps so accessibility to the platforms is very good.
A new entrance and ticket office has been built at track level. The original entrance is now closed and can be seen near the top of the bridge. That entrance is now blocked off and the original foot bridge has been demolished.
The station is located on the West Coast Main Line just south of Preston, and is the approximate halfway point between Glasgow and London, some 198 miles in either direction, with a placard on Leyland Trucks' Spurrier works stating this fact.
History
The Station was built in 1838 with 2 platforms. It was formerly called Golden Hill but was soon renamed to Leyland after opening.
The Cache
The cache is not on Railway property and is far enough away to stop muggles from disturbing you when finding the cache and logging your visit.
