St Mary's Church is a Grade II listed building.
Parish Church. 1850 by Sydney Smirke, of red bricks with stone dressings and
gabled slate roof. Barn like unaisled nave and articulated, lower chancel,
all with small buttresses, angled on the corners. South west tower with pointed
entrance arch which is square with broached octagonal bell stage with octagonal
copper clad spire. Windows are generally of paired lights with trefoiled heads,
but east window is of simplified geometrical decorated form of three lights
with three circles above. West window has 3 lancet like openings and separate
small circular lights. North nave roof slope has 3 gabled slated dormers. C20
vestry and ancillary block at east end of north side. Internally, arch braced
collar, open trussed roofs over both nave and chancel springing from low level
from corbel blocks. Chamfered chancel arch without capitals. Funerary
hatchments on spandrels of arcade.
