Hi there, and welcome to the former home (Number 77) of the architect P. Cuypers, the architect who created twenty houses in this street, the Vondelchurch (in this street), but also the Rijksmuseum and Central Station. He exudes the old charm of a bygone era, with exquisite details.
The Vondelchurch is build in 1880 and is located in the center of the Vondelstraat. Cuypers himself lived in his own created house at number 77, where the cache is placed. De villa is called "Nieuw Leyerhoven" and has typical Cuypers turrets.
At the front of the house you will find some interesting decorations, like the three men. Below is written:
Jan bedenkt het - Jan invents it (the architect)
Piet volbrengt het - Piet accomplishes it- (the man who builds)
Klaas laakt het - Klaas rejects it (The Amsterdam municipality).
With Klaas Cuypers ment the municipality because he thought they counterworked. He needed to revise his plans for new plans all the time.
Have fun finding this spot and enjoy Amsterdam! ❤️
