Geocache Description:

This cache is about an Erasmus+ project called Geocaching In and Out the Classroom - Minds on the Move.The project is a partnership between Escola Básica e Secundária Mestre Domingos Saraiva in Agrupamento de Escolas do Algueirão, Portugal and 6 more European schools: Professional Institute of Stato Giuseppe Ravizza, Novara, Italy; Zespol Szkol Ponadgimnazjalnych nr2 w Kielcach, Poland; Lycée Lucie Aubrac, France; IES Moraima, Granada, Spain; Geniko Lykeio Diopolitismikis Ekpaidefsis Evosmou, Thessaloniki, Greece; Vilniaus Juzefo Ignacijaus Krasevskio Gimnazija, Lithuania. Its approval by the European Union allowed these organizations to work together to improve their offer for students and share innovative practices. This project, developed in 27 months, from 1st September 2016 to 30th November 2018, was designed to develop skills, knowledge and attitudes of teachers and students directly or indirectly involved in the project. It aimed to:

  • Allow an exchange of pedagogical practices among the teachers of the different schools;
  • Promote an improvement in the quality of teaching through the practice of geocaching;
  • Increase the social inclusion of students;
  • Encourage the modernization and improvement of the international dimension of the grouping; increase students' motivation to participate in the teaching / learning process;
  • Contribute to the institutional development of the schools involved;
  • Improve foreign languages communication;
  • Broaden these students’ horizons, to get them to know other cultures, customs and to exchange experiences.

The project includes international mobility of students and teachers and to involve different subjects of the curricula as well as an active involvement of students of different cycles.

The 1st mobility took place in IES Moraima, Granada, Spain; the 2nd one in Professional Institute of Stato Giuseppe Ravizza, Novara, Italy; the 3rd one in Geniko Lykeio Diopolitismikis Ekpaidefsis Evosmou, Thessaloniki, Greece; the 4th one in Agrupamento de Escolas do Algueirão, Sintra, Portugal and the last one in Zespol Szkol Ponadgimnazjalnych nr2 w Kielcach, Poland. Those mobilities allowed teachers and students to share best teaching practices in certain target topics. These events were extremely important since they turned each partner´s individual experience into a common understanding and input.
