The war memorial at Kirtling is a Celtic style wheel cross on a square plinth and a three-stepped base situated on a green at the junction of Cowlinge Road and Upend Road. It stands in a square kerbed area. There are inscriptions on the plinth and top step commemorating 14 residents of Kirtling and Upend who were killed or missing in World War I and 3 in World War II.
The cache is hidden a short walk away along a footpath. PLEASE NOTE - use the public footpath across the field, as there is no road access. Do not use the private road!
If anybody would like to expand to this series please do, I would just ask that you could let Just-us-Two know first at justustwo1013@gmail.com so they can keep track of the memorial numbers and names to avoid any duplication.
