PORT: Data do início do séc. XVI a instalação deste quartel, quase em simultâneo com a construção do Mosteiro. Durante estes quase 500 anos, esteve naturalmente envolvido nos conflitos militares que mais ameaçaram a condição de cidade invicta de que o Porto justamente se gaba. Pela sua localização estratégica, foi decisivo na expulsão das tropas invasoras de Napoleão e na luta que opôs liberais a absolutistas. A origem do quartel confunde-se com a do mosteiro que, antes de ter o nome que hoje conhecemos, teve ainda o de São Salvador do Mundo e Salvador do Porto. A posição estratégica que ocupa, tão eficaz em tempos de guerra, oferece uma belíssima vista sobre a cidade que, nos momentos mais tranquilos que vivemos, sabe bem disfrutar.

During these almost 500 years, he was naturally involved in the military conflicts that most threatened the condition of an unbeaten city that Porto rightly boasts. By its strategic location, it was decisive in the expulsion of the invading troops of Napoleon and in the fight that liberals opposed absolutists. The origin of the barracks is confused with the one of the monastery that, before having the name that today we know, still had the one of San Salvador of the World and Salvador of the Port. The strategic position it occupies, so effective in times of war, offers a beautiful view on the city that, in the quietest moments that we live, well knows enjoy.
