Geocache Description:

MT BOGONG CITO

Mount Bogong is the highest peak in Victoria and sees many vistors in all seasons.  Where there are people there is trash (intentional or not).  There are various routes to the top, we strongly suggest that you research these to determine which is best for you. Bivouac Hut along Staircase Spur and Michell Hut via Eskdale Spur are great rest opportunities. We will be conducting CITO at the hut we visit on our way to or from the summit CITO event. We will supply plastic bags which will need to be carried out.

Summit CITO TIME: 12.00pm to 1.00pm

After the CITO you may have a little time to explore the area and get some happy snaps at the top - BYO picnic for some lunch whilst there.

This is an Alpine environment and weather can change quite quickly.  Be prepared by bringing adequate food and water with you.

Due to the location/season, it should also be noted that this event may be cancelled at the last minute. Reasons for this may include, but are not limited to…

Fire/s in the local area

Closure of the forest area by ParksVic

Extreme hot weather (temperatures above 35 degrees)

Severe, Extreme or Code Red Fire Danger Rating

Predictions of possibilities of any of the above.

If you intend on coming, please log your Will Attend. Any notifications regarding cancellations will be posted immediately as an announcement to this page. That way all teams who have logged a Will Attend will be notified of any possible changes straight away.

The Victorian High Country is beautiful, lets keep it that way by doing our bit.
