Geocache Description:

Once upon a time, a geocaching log was written that said: "TFTC. Every sgl gate should have one. :)" I could not agree more. It sounded like a good idea for a possible series. This is Day Six of the Christmas extension of the SGL gate series.

On the Sixth Day of Christmas, mrGreen317 hid for me, a camo-ed tube hanging in a cute little evergreen tree...

While the retailers are packing away the Christmas wares for 2017, the traditional Christmas season actually runs from December 25 through January 5, the "Twelve Days of Christmas". Here are some geocaches hidden for the "Twelve Gates of Christmas" (12 GoC) to grab this Christmas season or any other time of the year when geocaching is on the day's agenda.

This geocache is a camo-taped, flip-top tube container hanging on a branch of a small evergreen tree at the given coordinates. Inside, an inner bison container holds the log slip, while the code word card needed for the series final should be between the inner and outer containers. This cache should basically be a park and grab. The location is SGL 108 off Wopsy Rd, and even though the cache is near the gate, please exercise sensible precautions if hunters are in the area. During the peak hunting seasons, orange is required to be worn in SGL (except on Sunday, when there is no hunting).

Also, please do not park in such a way as to block the gate or the SGL road. There should be enough room to park to the side of the SGL road so that other vehicles will be able to get around yours if necessary.

Of course, since this is listed as a small, please bring a pen or pencil along to sign the log. The log slip is "Rite in the Rain" paper, so it should resist getting wet, however, a pencil will work best if the slip is wet when you go to sign it. If the slip is dry, a standard ball point pen will do fine. Water-based inks may not write on the paper very well and should be avoided if possible.

Congratulations to r.e.s.t.seekers and ted28285 for the FTF, being in the right place at the right time. Merry Christmas to you and your family!

This geocache container has a code card that will provide a clue to a Mystery/Puzzle cache GC736GK, the "12 Gates of Christmas (12 GoC) Final". Keep track of the code somewhere for when you have found enough caches of this series to solve the final puzzle. The laminated code card should be located between the outer and inner containers.

Merry Christmas from mrGreen317 and SageHippo!

Many thanks to SageHippo for providing the original container used on this geocache. It was used to hide one of her geocaching Advent gifts hidden for mrGreen317 in the weeks leading up to Christmas this year. This container has since been replaced with a very similar container on a maintenance visit. And months later, on a later visit in the early summer of 2019, this container was replaced once again; this time, with an upgraded experimental setup, where the outer container is very similar to the original, but an inner-container, attached to the back and lid with a chain, can be pulled out to get to the log. Hopefully the inner container (a standard medium bison) can add some extra dryness protection for the log slips, although they are now on water-resistant paper.
