Geocache Description:

Part of the SideTracked series of caches.

Shoreham railway station serves Shoreham in Kent, England. Train services are provided by Southeastern and Thameslink.

The station opened on 2nd June 1862. The ticket office here was closed c1992, having been manned only during part of the day. The platforms are connected by a concrete footbridge - a typical product of the Southern Railway concrete factory at Exmouth Junction.

From 23 March 2009, most of the stopping train service to/from Blackfriars is re-extended (resuming a service pattern from the 1980s) across Central London via the 'Thameslink' route, serving City Thameslink, Farringdon, St Pancras International, Kentish Town and West Hampstead Thameslink. Approximately 40,000 people use the station each year.

About SideTracked Caches

This cache belongs to the SideTracked series. It is not designed to take you to a magical place with a breath taking view. It's a distraction for the weary traveller, but anyone else can go and find it too. SideTracked caches have become a nationwide series of caches for public transport users. They are intended to provide quick cache-and-dashes at or nearby railway stations. Caches can be found close to stations of the national rail network and well as heritage railways. More Information can be found at the SideTracked Website
