Evidently, as a child, Robert John Arthur Halford gained musical talent playing recorders in grammar school. This talent "spun" his way to other instruments and eventually his love of singing. His early influences included soul screamers, such as Little Richard, Janis Joplin and Robert Plant. He sang for numerous bands including Athens Wood, Abraxas, "Thark", and Hiroshima.
