Geocache Description:

Village signs is a series of caches based on the ornate signs that depict the heritage, history and culture of the villages that put them up (normally on the village green!).

This cache is a black and camo 30ml tube

Stondon is a civil parish located in the Central Bedfordshire district of Bedfordshire, England. The parish includes the settlements of Lower Stondon and Upper Stondon.

The name "Stondon" derives from the Saxon word meaning Stone Hill. The parish itself however was only created in 1985 after an amalgamation of the Lower and Upper Stondon civil parishes.

Stondon is mentioned in the Domesday Book. The entry is as follows: Standone: St Benedict's of Ramsey; Engelhere from Azelina, Ralph Tailbois' wife.

The cache is NOT at the published coordinates, but you'll have to go there to get some info to find the cache.

The cache is within walking distance of the sign so please do not go climbing all over the sign!

Just above the plinth is some black metal holding the wood in place, how many bolts are there in the black metal? Call this A.

Half that number and you will get B. Half the number of A then half it again and you will get C. Double the number of A and you will get D.

The cache can be found at N 52° 00.(D-A-A)(A-C)(C+D) W 000° C(C+D).(B-C-C)A(A+C)

If anybody would like to expand this series please do. I would just ask that you let SmokeyPugs know first so they can keep track of the Village Sign numbers and names to avoid duplication.
