Geocache Description:

A traditional cache very close to the site of the former Silverton railway station

Silverton railway station opened in 1867 and closed in 1965. The station had an unusual layout with one platform being sited to the north of the road bridge and the other to the south. If you walk up to the bridge you can still see traces of the old pathways.

There are the remains of a siding that was used until 1967 to serve a nearby paper mill, the tracks are still in situ although their route crosses a (now private) dairy farm.

The cache is a small test tube that is hidden off the ground out of view. Please replace it as such, you may need to wedge the lid gently to keep it from falling out of place. If you are using a car to get here (well you cannot get here by train any more!) then you should be able to park next to the cache or use the Killerton Bridge car park and walk to GZ.
