The stash (Accuracy 10 m; Elevation 463 m) was hidden in a 9
litre rectangular translucent plastic snap-lock container
within tangled prickly undergrowth.May 09, replaced with a large
ammo can. It's about 400 m south-east of the car park (S
44°56.440' E 168°50.381' Elevation 413 m; a 50 m climb). The ruins
of the Tobins' house are around 45 m south of the stash (at S
44°56.556' E 168°50.671' Elevation 458 m), there is a memorial to
him about 30 m south of that (at S 44°56.572' E 168°50.670'
Elevation 456 m). See the hints for more detail.
From Arrowtown's main street (S 44°56.292' E 168°49.966'
Elevation 417 m) follow the road closest to the river south-east
for about 600 m, now turn north-east into Ford Street (at about S
44°56.494' E 168°50.297' Elevation 419 m), continue for about 150 m
and park in O'Callaghan park.
Arrowtown and neighboring Queenstown host a multitude of
touristy activities, such as Bungee jumping, paragliding, skiing,
etc (visit the tourist information centre for more detail). I would
recommend a scenic cruse on lake Wakatipu on the Earnslaw, it's
reasonably priced too :).
