Geocache Description:

One of the series of Mystery caches forming the geo-art of Tasmania.

The Bay of Fires is a region of white beaches, blue water and orange-hued granite and it is one of Tassie’s most popular conservation reserves.

Its name refers to the Aboriginal fires spotted by Captain Tabias Furneaux when he sailed past in 1773, but it could also apply to the brilliant orange lichen that grows on the granite boulders lining the bay.

Binalong Bay is the area’s main beach but further in the south is the coastal town of St Helens.  In between these two places is also Humbug Point Nature Recreation Area, which has a cache placed by a good friend of ours, from Queensland, Nyssaflutterby (maintained by us) who placed this cache dedicated to another good Queensland friend Dahumbug.  Now this is where a very interesting story begins about another Queensland friend, NeverLostAu, but we call him, NeverLostGenius.

NeverLostGenius

We call NeverLostAu a “genius” because he is our saviour when we have exhausted all possible answers to difficult puzzles. This call for assistance can occur at any time without a complaint, usually with jubilation. We envy the virtuosity he has, not only in music but his cleverness and his versatility ensuring that, in fact, he is never lost, for an answer. We are blown away by his brilliant thoughts. I’m convinced that the CSIRO and the CIA would love his intelligence. But they lose out which is lucky for us. However, his lovely wife, his charming, adorable daughter and of course, Murray the dog may come first.

Would you believe, we have never met NeverLostAu? He was introduced to us online by our other Queensland geofriends because of a similar passion and enjoyment of puzzling. Messaging begins with something like, “Are you following any good ideas in solving this puzzle? or “Help Please!” Usually some good ideas follow. We start to work individually aiming to achieve a quick solution. Sometimes this is achievable but at other times not. Numerous nights have turned into candle burning mornings and usually success follows. So, as you can see, NeverlostAu is an integral part of our FTFs!!!

The cache is not at the published coordinates.

You can validate your puzzle solution with certitude.

Well done to whitewebbs for FTF and congratulations on being the first team to complete "The Map of Tassie".

Please remember that this is also a field puzzle. Remember to replace all parts of the field puzzle as you found it for the next person to work out!
