Geocache Description - 4. Dick gets a message.

The Story

From "Beacons village" Dick and Anne try to find Blue Pond Farmhouse but get lost along a sunken lane which is crossed by a stream. They climb out of the lane by a stile, cross a few fields and find a gate out onto the moor before coming across a farmhouse. Whilst staying there, Dick receives a message and a map on a scrap of paper not intended for him: “Two trees. Gloomy Water. Saucy Jane. And Maggie knows”

The Cache

This cache is placed along a typical Dartmoor sunken lane, accessible by the public on foot, which crosses a stream. It is possible to extend a visit to the cache into short circular walks of 2 miles or longer.

A return walk from the suggested parking to the cache is less than a mile.

Points of Interest

Ilsington is a picturesque Devon village. The church has an interesting lych gate containing a statue of St George.
