Geocache Description:

In preparation for a big bash in 2018, GoSA has continued the plan to host in Gauteng.  This year the event is at the Hobby Park with many hobbies planned for the day.

The event is planned to be on 29 September, 2018 and will start at 07H00 and end at 22H00

The details are finalized and it is promising to be a fantastic day with many activities planned for the whole family - especially relating to having a relaxing day outdoors, talks, and of course punctuated with time to find the many geocaches.

The programme for the Mega event as well as the weeks before and after is complete.

News regarding the nature trail, geoart and hikes:
There will be 3 zones to work in when caching over the weekend.
Zone 1 is close to home, there is a nature trail that is very easy to walk along and you will be able to find well constructed caches of all types along this trail.
Zone 2 requires you to put on good walking shoes and you will be rewarded with much more of an exploration of the area, and in particular, you will be able to find the caches that were hidden for the mini-geo-art that has been created just for the mega.
Zone 3 will take more effort and is a fantastic hike through the area, reaching the border of the Botanical gardens. There are some well conceived caches on this route, and you will come back feeling that you have achieved a job well done.

Coordinated activities
There will be talks between 10am and 3pm. There will also be an opportunity to meet the reviewers and have many questions and answers with them.
Two talks coincide with opportunities for activities for the kids
There is a fantastic opportunity to have a look at the coin collections of many of the local collectors who will have dedicated tables under the marquee and this is an opportunity one does not have often. If you would like to show your collection, please bring it as there will be 'open tables' for you to show your collections.
There is an interesting exercise we will do to determine how accurate or inaccurate GPS receivers are relative to each other.

CITO Tree planting
This is an important activity for the nature lovers. We have noticed how many exotic trees have established themselves all through the country, and we will be taking the opportunity to plant indigenous trees in the Hobby Park. We would like this to be a more frequent occurrence.

Lab Cache Adventure from Ancient times to Modern times
We have a wonderful opportunity to provide an adventure full of 10 Lab Caches for everybody to find. Remember to get the key-word on the weekend and log it before the week is up so that you can record your stages in your adventure.

Rhythm, Drumming and Harmony
We are incredibly fortunate to be able to host a team of professional drummers who will take us on a journey of cooperative rhythmic teamwork. No words can describe the feeling - one has to be there to appreciate it!
