Watchet Hill is a relatively modest hill by Dartmoor's standards. It sits just outside Belstone Village and is a relatively easy walk up from either the village or suggested parking. On the top of the hill there is no granite to see, only a firing flag and the remains of a burial mound. This burial mound is a round cairn (burial underneath a mount, usually including stones). The cairn would originally have had a ditch running around the outside of it, however all that is visible today is the uneven mound. There is a T shaped excavation trench that was put through the monument during an earlier excavation.
Watchet Hill does offer some good views further into the moor and some superb views off the moor, which is worth the walk alone. The hill also serves as a stepping stone up to Belstone Tor and Oke Tor beyond which I highly recommend continuing on to.
