Geocache Description:

A Landmark in central Australia. From the centre of the landmark walk 105 "Oky's mate Jim paces" magnetic north to find the cache.

The calculated geographical centre of Australia is at 25 degrees, 36 minutes, 36.4 seconds South, and 134 degrees, 21 minutes and 17.3 seconds East. A pole has been placed at this site to commemorate this centre of gravity of Australia. However, on the day we were there we could not get our GPS to get these values, despite trying several map datums. We weren't that surprised after we noticed that even the concrete pads for the pole were not correctly aligned. Our co-ordinates are close and you will have no trouble locating the landmark.

Given that this is a geocentrical cache, we placed a cylindrical cache with only round objects (except for the log book) - even the pen blows round bubbles. We ask that you consider the theme and only bring round objects to the cache.

The last bit of the road in is fairly rough and slow going. 4WD is definitely recommended.
