Flyplassen Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Makuta Teridax: Hi

March has gone, and so has most of April, but nothing seems to be happening here. While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for the cache owner and block other cachers from placing a cache in the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time, we can’t do so forever.

I have earlier asked about the plans for this cache and a time frame. Due to lack of response from the owner, this cache is now archived, so that someone else can place a cache in the area, and geocachers can once again enjoy visiting this location. Also, if it hasn’t been done already, please pick up any remaining cache bits as soon as possible.

If the owner wants it reopened, send me an e-mail and I'll be happy to unarchive the cache listing if it still satisfies the requirement/guidelines.

(This reviewer note is in English so non-Norwegian cache owners, geocachers and cache reviewers will understand what it says.)

Thanks for your understanding,
Makuta Teridax

Geocache Description:

Location is one of the islands in the Oslofjord. An airport was located here earlier, nowadays kids call it Teletubby Island - you will understand why when you arrive by ferry...

The cache Flyplassen is the smallest airport in Norway, where you can land objects related to aviation.

It is a clear box with a white lid, 12*12*8 cm.
Original contents is:
A logbook with a pencil
An OSL pen
Two OSL pins
Braathens moist towelettes
Stickers with flying bugs
A pocket radio (on the air...)
A toy helicopter
And the travel bug Gjøkungen

Norway´s first main airport, for seaplanes, was located here from 1927. The airport was closed down in 1952 but you can still see remains: a hangar and rails for a trolley pulling planes into the hangar. The location of the cache has been cleared with the County Environmental Authorities (Fylkesmannens miljøvernavdeling), and lies outside of the natural refuge.
