TRIBUTES17: D3 : Supreme Dork of All Time & Space Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

ZippyFinn: As I look back through the logs, I see that I’m slacking. The final awarding of points is as follows:

Nothereeither: I appreciated the summation and accounting of his dork points, although he was a little loose with some of the interpretations. As such, I will begin with his accounting and end with my accounting.

NHE starts with a questionable 201 points. For someone who didn’t even complete the series, this is kinda ballsy. I’ll deduct 5 points for the civil dawn in Adelaide, Australia but most of your other items made me laugh so I kept them. The Zorky Rooster completion for 150 was brilliant, but this is where you got too greedy. I may have overlooked it but for your grossly huge total. BOOM minus 150. BOOM minus 20 for non-completion of series. You stand at 26 points.

Awesnap: I was pleased to see your tally of points, although when I realized you had less than NHE, I had to do some quick thinking. Or faking. You included a nice selection of pictures and hand-made memes and then there’s the whole Green Lantern thing which I’m sure must be dorky even though I’ve never seen or read it. I took another 10 points off Nothereeither’s score. He’s at 16 now, so you win.

TeamMurf1: This will be a lot shorter than I’d like because it happened so long ago, but from what I can remember, I couldn’t have asked for a more enthusiastic winner for my help at the NoVAGO auction! While she didn’t tally her own dork points (booo!), I was witness to all the preparation for her outing. She brought props! She had a pic of Roo (the Winnie the Pooh one!) She hung with me and Serrabou for a few hours and kept a smile on her face the whole time! Secretly, I think she’s more nice than dorky, but I’ll give her the max amount of double-digits for playing my games and paying money to do it.

And for the straggler dorks who accompanied me on the final fling…we had two that gave at least a minimum.

VPDJ: Did not tally points, but did bring and wear a cheesehead in the parking lot! 10 points.

Hooclass: Memes! And somewhat funny! 5 points.

To the rest of the clan, I award you participation ribbons.

We had such an exciting trip today! What was your favorite part of the trip?…
I liked that too!

And a toast to Serrabou! May he forever be the cartophile dork creating adventures in the woods.

ZF signing off.

Geocache Description:

Click to see a bookmark list of the original Toponaut Caches.
Meet the original Toponaut creator : Serrabou aka Dorky Rooster.
Each cache in the TRIBUTES17 series can be found individually, but make sure you collect the clue inside. You'll need it to find the TRIBUTES17 BONUS!
Each 3 character clue is hidden in plain sight in each container and is in the format 'Z = A1!'.
Details can be found on the BONUS cache page : GC7CXFE.

There is nothing hidden at the posted coordinates. This is the third of a three-cache series where you will not really use a hand-drawn topographical map, but still flail about certain features in the woods. There are trails to get you close and bushwhacking is minimal. Please try to stay on the trail as much as possible. The total mileage will vary depending on your interpretation of my interpretation.

Dork-O-Naut 3 : Supreme Dork of All Time & Space

To find this cache, you must first retrieve the clue from Dork-O-Naut 2 : Legend.

This series needs to be done in sequence to retrieve clues to continue.

The code for TRIBUTES17 is located in this cache.

NEEDFUL THINGS :

  • A color printout of the topo map can be found in the Gallery. Each cache page has a zoomed-in portion of the big map but they won't help much. It'll give you a general idea but everything you need will be handed to you along the way. These three Dork-O-Naut caches bleed into each other.
  • A SmartPhone with internet access and the ability to scan a QR code
  • The knowledge of how to project a waypoint using your GPS device
  • Nimble friends if you are uneasy with climbing and balance
  • Dorky paraphernalia

TO BEGIN :

  • Navigate to the red star.

  • You'll know exactly how to proceed after finding Dork-O-Naut 2: Legend.

Primer (Yeah...right.)

  1. Continue counterclockwise along the Blue Trail.
  2. Laterz!
Some other notes:
  • For all three Dork-O-Nauts, the stages are a mix of projections, straight-up coordinates or simple puzzles.
  • Please return all items before moving on or I will play 'Curse of the Bloody Tome' : 'After seeing her life's work drip away, the mage decided it was a good time to go crazy.'
  • You MUST sign the logbook to log this cache as FOUND. You should be using the yellow items at the penultimate stage to help.
  • If you are caching as a group, do me a solid and have everyone sign the log book. It's not necessary to "save space" in a book this large. Asante.
