Geocache Description:

This is the second bridge puzzle we’ve found in Del Norte county. These overlooks are obviously the old Highway 101 bridges but it perplexes us as to how they made these look like they were original.

The concrete work looks like it is from the 1930’s. Check out the corner joints where the railing connects to the two sides. The real mystery is how did they make those joints look original? Concrete work on other bridges, even from the 1960’s, still looks new.

This cache is virtual until we get back through and can place a container. I didn’t have one with me at the time of our side trip to Down on the Farm.

Our virtual policy is that cachers log their find at the same time they email the answers to me. I will only email you if I believe you were not actually at the cache site. We can negotiate a resolution from there. This saves time for both the finder and the placer, especially if the placer is out of town on vacation and can’t get back to the finder for two or three weeks. This also allows for quicker log and total cache find tally.

Kalamath employs Golden Bears to protect its bridges so you can easily guess how many bears there are at this structure. But what are the two objects that accompany the bears, just in front of them? What color is the centerline stripe on the bridge? And for extra credit – what is the name of this former bridge? That answer can be found in the parking lot.
