The Beacon, also known as Lotts Wife, is a white navigational marker that sits at the entrance to Baltimore Harbour. It sits high up on the cliffs between the mainland and Sherkin Island. There are spectacular views towards Sherkin, Cape Clear, the harbour and the mouth of the Ilen River.
There is limited parking, however the Beacon is approximately a 30 minute walk from the village.
Caution is needed if the ground is wet, and children should be supervised due to the steep exposed cliffs. |
