Geocache Description:

GBTE Meet & Greet

Hello fellow geocachers of Emmen, I am cycling your way! No matter if you live here or you are just visiting, I would love to meet you when I get there!

This would be day #17 of my Geocaching Bicycle Tour, after spending the night in your city, at a warmshowers host.

The event this morning takes place just as I leave your city, and it is a simple Meet&Greet, because I want to get in touch with the local community and meet the owners of the caches I am finding (or perhaps found already). I always try to make events wherever I go, and I have had many wonderful experiences and met awesome people due to events I hosted. My whole tour is about meeting the people and seeing the places, so events are the best way to do both.

The location is chosen from Google Maps. I figured the city center would be good for our meeting. I am looking forward to hear from you and meet you later this month!

Wanna meet on July 21 from 09:00 to 09:30?

Also, if you feel like giving a helping hand to a long distance cyclist, I will never say no to a hot meal, a place to sleep, camp or have a shower. Also very helpful would be if you could spread the word... maybe you have friends or family somewhere along my route? Perhaps they can offer me shelter for a night?

How about joining me for some T5 hunting, or if you have a bike, maybe we can ride together a couple of kilometers?

Feel free to contact me whatever way is more convenient for you. I am on facebook, whatsapp, instagram, you can email me or send me a message here in the geocaching messenger (I like messages because I can see them in the app)

You can use this event as a great opportunity to find out whatever you would like to know about me and my trip, so don't be afraid to ask!

What is GBTE?

GBTE (Geocaching Bicycle Touring Europe) is my big adventure for the second half of 2017. Cycling and geocaching through Denmark - Germany - Netherlands – Belgium – France – UK – Andorra – Spain – Italy – San Marino – Slovenia – Croatia – Serbia – Bulgaria and Romania. It is going to be a trip of nearly 7000 km, during almost 5 months and I am targeting a little bit over 2000 caches.

But it's not about the number, not really. I do not care about having 2000 more finds after this trip, as much as I care about the very specific caches I want to get. I planned my route according to the caches, not the other way around: starting with T5 climbing caches, virtual and webcam, old caches, those with many FP and some of the ones nominated for Geocache Of The Week. Basically, all the special ones, you know them!

Yes, I am doing all of these while riding on a fully loaded bicycle, self supported, camping and trying to find hosts for accommodation... it's freaking AWESOME! :D

Also, because I love the social part of geocaching, I am hosting events all over along the route! I do hope to meet many local players, to chat, discover TB, and maybe, like on other occasions, find some geocachers that would join me on the T5 geo-hunts. Or maybe offer a meal or a shower, or a bed for a night? Who knows... maybe you know someone that knows someone... It's a long trip, and any bit of help is much appreciated!

I look forward to make many friends during this summer and autumn, so come meet me! There are also a few TB for you to discover: myself, my bike, my logbook, these events.... :D

If you want to know more, see where I am at this moment and follow the trip, check out my website at http://gbte.raduclapa.ro. You are more than welcome to like and share the official facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/GBTE2017/ and this way you can keep an eye on all my updates :) In case you are wondering, my route across your country looks a bit like the map below.
