Number 912 in a series of caches where a red telephone box is in close proximity to a post box.
The only rules are that they have to be able to be photographed together, be not more than 100’ apart and the phone boxes have to be red.
The cache is not at the published coordinates.
The published co-ordinates will take you to the location of this 'Fine Pair'. These phone boxes, designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott in the 1920's, have become collectors’ items and an example of things quintessentially English.

BT do not permit the placing of geocaches in their phone boxes as long as they own them. Some disused phone boxes are offered for adoption by local communities, and where adopted the rule on placement of caches may not apply.
The pillar box is a Penfold design and caries the Royal Cipher of Queen Victoria. There is a plaque at the bottom that indicates when the pillar box was made, however there is so much paint it is difficult to tell whether this is an original or a replica. This Fine Pair is overlooked by Durham Cathedral, one of the finest examples of Norman architecture in the world and Durham Castle. These buildings along with Palace Green make up the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
