03 - Letterbox
A Duna-Ipoly Nemzeti Parkban található Kevély-hegycsoport Pilisborosjenő és Csobánka között terül el. Legmagasabb csúcsa a Nagy-Kevély 534 m, a Kis-Kevély 481 m, az Ezüst-Kevély pedig 415 m magas. Legkönnyebben Pilisborosjenő felől lehet megközelíteni, a sárga, illetve a piros jelzésen. A Mackó-barlang a Kis-Kevély északi oldalában 400 méteres magasságban található. A 11 méter széles, 3-5 méter magas nyílásán át tágas csarnokba jutunk, amely 10 méter után két szűkebb járatban folytatódik. A barlang teljes hossza 59 méter.
A hegycsúcsokhoz közeli sziklákról csodálatos panoráma tárul szemünk elé. Körbepillantva a Dunát, a Budai-hegységet és a Pilis jelentős csúcsait is láthatjuk.
A Kevély-nyereg több turistaút találkozási pontja a Nagy- és Kis-Kevély között. A múlt században ezen a 430 méter magasan lévő tisztáson állt egy turistaház. A Kevély-hegyi menedékház az 1920-as években épült. A Természetbarátok Turista Egyesülete tagjai vasárnaponként hátizsákban hordták fel az építőanyagot és kétkezi munkával építették fel a házat. Az 5 hálószobás, manzárdos, ebédlős, 60 férőhelyes épület 5 év alatt készült el. A turistaházat 1928-ban avatták fel, nevét Stromfeld Aurélról kapta, aki nagyon sokat tett a természetbarátok képzéséért és a turista útjelzések felfestéséért. Pad őrzi emlékét a tisztáson.
1992-ben - egy nappal azelőtt, hogy az épületet a Pilisi Parkerdőgazdaságtól a Budapesti Természetbarát Szövetég átvette volna - a ház máig tisztázatlan körülmények között porig égett.
A koordinátákon egy Letterbox Hybrid típusú geoládát találsz. A Letterbox Hybrid ládákat az különbözteti meg a hagyományos geoládáktól, hogy a láda és a logfüzet mellett minden esetben található egy pecsét. A láda pecsétjével saját füzetedbe pecsételhetsz, míg a geoládába saját pecséteddel vagy ujjlenyomatoddal kell logolnod. A pecsétet a ládában találod, ez nem ajándék, szóval ne vidd el és kérlek tedd vissza a rejtekébe.
The Kevély mountain range is a part of the Duna-Ipoly National Park, situated in the woodland area between the towns of Pilisborosjenő and Csobánka. It's highest peaks are the Great Kevély (Nagy-Kevély) at 534 meters, the Small Kevély (Kis-Kevély) at 481 meters and the Silver Kevély (Ezüst-Kevély) at 415 meters. The easiest way to access the area is from Pilisborosjenő, following the yellow or red tour signs. The Bear-cave, with a total length of 59 meters, can be visited on the northern side of the Small Kevély at an altitude of 400 meters above sea level. The cave system has a large opening with a height of 3,5 meters, continuing deep inside the mountain in two smaller caverns after ten meters.
At the hill tops, we are met with a beautiful panorama that grants us a view to the Danube, and the major peaks of the Buda and Pilis hills.
The Kevély Saddleback, which connects the Great and Small Kevély hilltops is also a place where many tour routes meet. In the 20th century, this 430 meter high plateau was the location of a lodge, built in the 1920s. One of the major Hungarian tour organizations had their members haul the material needed to build the lodge in their backpacks, and the building was erected solely with manpower. It took five years to build the lodge, which housed five bedrooms, a garret room, a large dining room, giving temporary lodging for 60 people at a time. The lodge was christened in 1928 after Aurél Stromfeld, who was a major proponent of touring in Hungary and strove to establish tour routes with official symbols painted up in the country. A bench stands at the site in his memory.
In 1992, one day before the lodge was supposed to be given over to the Hungarian Nature-Lover Association, the building was destroyed by a mysterious fire that has yet to be explained to this day.
At the coordinates, you will find a Letterbox Hybrid geocache. Letterbox Hybrid caches are differentiated from traditional geocaches in that they always contain a stamp. Using the stamp stashed in the cache box, you can make a print in your own notebook, while you need to sign the logbook with either your own stamp or your fingerprint, with the ink pad that is inside the cache container. The stamp is in the cache, please don't take it with you and make sure to hide it back properly.
