Geocache Description:

One of Estonian greatest parishes - Türi parish - was created in the 23rd October 2005 by merging previous Kabala, Oisu and Türi parish and Türi town. In historical records Türi was first mentioned as Turgel in 1347. By 1917 the population had grown to the extent that Türi gained the rights of a small market town. On 2 July 1926 Türi became a town, that grew out from smaller villages around it.

By the 90th anniversay signs were established to introduce those villages. Each one of them has it’s own history. Vabrikuküla (factory village), where initally lived the workers of paper factory; Konnaküla (Frog village), which area was moist and overflooded; Näljaküla (Hunger village), which name came from the starved cat, that drowned to the well; Kringliküla (Prentzel village), where was ahouse of baker and businessman Bürgen, that has one of the first golden prentzels hanging on the door; Nopsaküla (Nopsa village), where certain bricks (nopsa bricks) were used to build the houses; Pilpaküla (Splinter village), which was near woodboard factory.

In 2017 there are 1 town (Türi), 2 small boroughs (Oisu, Särevere) and 35 villages in Türi parish. In it’s flag and coat of arms is an apple.
