St Mary’s church, Dunsford stands proudly at the heart of this picturesque village in the beautiful Teign Valley and has done so since c.1450. Stone remains dating back to 1260 were incorporated and then in1846, significant restoration work was carried out. The massive timbers under the gallery came from the Powderham estate, whilst the imposing tomb in the Northeast belongs to the Fulford family who can be traced right back to the reign of Richard I; they still live at Great Fulford. The impressive roof bosses in the chancel include the Star of David. There is also a Jewish seven-branch candlestick.
