[DE]: 1972 fanden die Olympischen Sommerspiele in Deutschland statt. München war zwar der Hauptaustragungsort, da aber auch Segeln eine olympische Disziplin ist, kamen die Spiele auch nach Kiel.
Es wurde viel Geld in die Infrastruktur investiert, um die Stadt fit für dieses Weltereignis zu machen. Unter anderem bekam sie, als letzte der damals 11 westdeutschen Landeshauptstädte, den längst überfälligen Autobahnanschluss. Pünktlich zu den Spielen wurde die A 215 eröffnet.
Bereits ein Jahr später war, zumindest kurzzeitig, Schluss mit der freien Fahrt von und nach Kiel. Wegen der Ölkrise gab es an vier Sonntagen ein Fahrverbot und die nun verwaiste Autobahn lud zu einem Spaziergang oder einer Radtour ein. So eine Gelegenheit bot sich erst wieder 2006, als die Brücke über die Eider erneuert werden musste, wofür dieser Abschnitt einige Zeit gesperrt wurde.

[EN]: In 1972 the Olympic Summer Games took place in Germany. Although Munich was the main venue, as sailing is an olympic discipline, the games also came to Kiel.
A lot of money was invested in the infrastructure to make the city fit for this world event. Among other things it got, as the last of the 11 west german provincial capital cities, the long overdue highway connection. Just in time for the games the A 215 was opened.
Only one year later, at least for a short time, the free travel from and to Kiel came to a stop. Because of the oil crisis, there was a driving ban on four Sundays and the now orphaned highway invited for a walk or a bike ride. This opportunity did not arise until 2006, when the bridge over the Eider had to be renewed, for which this section was closed for some time.
