Šifra mistra Leonarda
Šifra mistra Leonarda (anglicky: The Da Vinci Code, první vydání 2003) je dobrodružný román s prvky fantazie amerického spisovatele Dana Browna. Do češtiny byl přeložen hned dvakrát: v roce 2003 vyšel překlad Zdíka Duška pod názvem Šifra mistra Leonarda v nakladatelství Metafora, v roce 2005 překlad Barbory Michálkové pod názvem Da Vinciho kód vydalo nakladatelství Argo.
Kniha nás společně s hlavními postavami zatahuje čím dál hlouběji do minulosti, až se nakonec dostaneme na přelom starého a nového letopočtu. Uznávaný profesor náboženské symbologie Robert Langdon je jednoho dne zaskočen zprávou, že odborník na křesťanství a správce muzea v Louvru byl zavražděn, a než se naděje, je vtažen do velké nebezpečné hry, kde se nehraje jen o jedno z největších tajemství lidstva, ale také o jeho život. Není v tom však sám, spolupracuje se správcovou vnučkou Sophií Neveuovou.
Podstatou jejich poslání, jež jim přenechal Sophiin dědeček, je objevení Svatého grálu a jeho tajemství. Čím blíže jsou ale k cíli, tím se úkol stává nebezpečnější. Grál měl být totiž pod ochranou tzv. Převorství sionského, ale do organizace se dostal zrádce a celý systém se hroutí. Navíc nejde jenom o grál, dvojice se dozvídá, že grál nebyl ve skutečnosti pohár, ale žena, a to Máří Magdaléna.
Vzhledem k tomu, že se církev snaží tuto skutečnost zatajit, uniká Sophie s Robertem smrti několikrát skutečně jen o vlásek. Celý příběh končí nenadálým uschováním grálu, ve skutečnosti tedy ostatků Máří Magdalény, a listin, jež prozrazují pravdu o jejím životě. Sophie s Robertem nakonec zjistí, kde se posvátné relikvie nacházejí, ale pro klid světa se je rozhodnou zachovat v klidu a pod obnovenou ochranou Převorství sionského.
The Da Vinci Code
The Da Vinci Code is an adventurous novel with fantasy elements, written by an American writer Dan Brown. It was translated into Czech twice: first, in 2003, a translation from Zdík Dušek under the title of „Šifra mistra Leonarda“ was published by Metafora publishing house. Then, in 2005, a translation from Barbora Michálková under the title of „Da Vinciho kód“ was published by Argo publishing house.
The book guides us to a long past, until it reaches the turn of the old and new era. A well-known professor of religion symbology Robert Langdon receives a message that a museum guard and specialist on Christianity was killed in Louvre. Soon, he is soon dragged into a very dangerous game, where one of the greatest mysteries of humanity and his own life are at stakes. He is not alone though, since he works with the granddaughter of the guard – Sophia Neveu.
The meaning of their mission is to discover the Holy Grail and its mysteries. The closer they are to the goal, the more dangerous the task becomes. The Grail is supposed to be under the protection of the so called Priory of Zion. However, a traitor got into the organization and the entire system breaks down. The pair soon finds out that the Grails was in fact a woman. A woman named Mary Magdalene.
Because of the fact that the Church is trying its best to hide his, Sophie and Robert barely escape death several times. The story is closed by a sudden deposition of the Grail – the remains of Mary Magdalene, and the documents which tell the truth about her life. In the end, Sophie and Robert find out where are the holy relics located, but they decide to keep them safe and under a renewed protection of the Zion Priory for the world to be at peace.
