Canada Day 🇨🇦 Fête du Canada

WHAT: Hill Hike

WHEN: Saturday Morning 10:42 till lunch time which is

roughly 2 minutes and 23 seconds past noon

WHERE: Top of Mount Riddell near Healesville

WHAT'S FOR LUNCH: Pancakes with maple syrup.

WHY: Because we can.

Canada Day, celebrated every year on July 1, is a Canadian federal holiday that celebrates the enactment of the British North America Act of 1867. The act united three colonies into a single country within the British Empire, and named that country Canada. However it is also a great excuse to have a pancake lunch with maple syrup in the middle of nowhere!

And because Canadians are very outdoorsy people, we want to embrace that notion and get active instead of standing around in the local park: Let's enjoy the Great Outdoors and go for a stroll up Mount Riddell!

The Hike

I've listed the coordinates of the gate which is the closest and only legal way to hike up there. Unless you team-up with other hikers, you have to plan your own hike in order to arrive at the event on time. My fancy "DIN 33466 - Calculation of Hiking Times" spreadsheet puts the walking distance at 5.4 km (one way) and the hiking time at 2:52h. Depending on your fitness you might have to add or subtract some time and plan your start time accordingly.

I think that's about it so feel free to log your will attend at any given point in time and join this little hike.

Adventure is out there

Cheers
Philipp
